A Houston native, she earned her Bachelor’s degree from The University of Texas at Austin and her MD with honors from Baylor College of Medicine. She completed dermatology residency at Georgetown University in Washington DC, where she served as Chief Resident, and was selected for a prestigious ASDS fellowship under Dr. Paul Friedman, gaining extensive training in lasers, injectables, and energy-based devices. Dr. Guo is an Adjunct Instructor at UTHealth Houston McGovern Medical School. She helped start the ASLMS New Beginnings Branding Tattoo Removal Program, providing pro bono laser tattoo removal for survivors of human trafficking. Dr. Guo sees both adult and pediatric patients, combining medical and aesthetic care with a personalized approach.

I have received excellent care from Dr. Guo and Dermatology and Laser Surgery Center staff. I went to see Dr. Guo about some syringomas in the delicate undereye area. My evaluation was very thorough. Makeup with SPF is a great bonus, but it’s not a substitute for sunscreen! Most people don’t apply enough makeup to get the full SPF protection listed on the label.
For daily defense, start with a dedicated broad-spectrum sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher) under your makeup. Then feel free to layer on that tinted moisturizer or foundation with SPF for added coverage.
Mineral tinted sunscreens are a great option if you’re looking for both protection and lightweight coverage – they can even out skin tone while shielding from UV rays.
Think of makeup as a backup, not your main shield. Your skin will thank you!
